BMV Registration
Plates officially are back here in the Town Office. So please DO NOT go to the other area offices for this service unless Thorndike Office is closed. ( if closed you can reach out to Towns of Troy, Knox and Burnham)
(with the exception of big trucks only re-reg here for that for now)
As always when registering your car please bring the following with you:
RE_REG:
1. Old Reg
2. Insurance card (You can have it faxed to 207-568-3653) (SR22 be prepared to wait while clerk gets confirmation- before 4p.m.)
3. Current Mileage
NEW REG:
All of the above plus:
4. If dealer sale (dealer bill of sale and Title application (blue copy) must have previous title number in box #15 or cannot process).
5. Private sale: be prepared to pay sales tax, have the title with previous owners signature in the correct spot, the odometer filled in and be prepared to fill out a title application.
Sometimes registrations can take a little time, so NO new reg. after 1/2 hour before closing.
Check your paperwork before coming and be sure you have it all. This helps expedite the process so much quicker. Although town clerks work miracles, it is not the responsibility of the clerk to get this information for you.
